Charlie McCurdy Is Named CEO of Informa’s Global Exhibitions Division
Industry veteran sees continued strong growth ahead in fast growing but fragmented segment
London, September 2015: Informa’s Global Exhibitions division has named Charlie McCurdy as CEO. McCurdy has over 25 years’ experience in events and business-to-business media and has held a number of senior executive roles during his career, leading the process of transforming, expanding and creating value at a range of companies.
“Informa Exhibitions has doubled in size over the last five years and is in a unique position to build and manage global verticals such as Construction & Real Estate, Life Sciences and Health & Nutrition,” McCurdy said. “While the global exhibitions market as a whole is both large and growing, it is also highly fragmented and undergoing intense change – including consolidation, digital engagement and new markets – as it strives to meet the needs of its global customers. Informa Exhibitions is well positioned to leverage that change.”
McCurdy was previously CEO at George Little Management, one of the leading trade show organizers in the United States, having partnered with Providence Equity Partners to acquire the company in 2011. Prior to this he worked with Spectrum Equity Investors to acquire Canon Communications, a business-to-business events, publishing and online company, and was Canon’s CEO for five years. Earlier in his career, McCurdy co-founded Primedia, Inc., a NYSE-listed company, where he oversaw the acquisition, development and growth of niche media companies serving consumers and businesses.
McCurdy is a former Chairman of the Society of Independent Show Organizers. He holds an MBA from Columbia University.
