Informa’s Global Exhibitions Division Cites Positive Impact of Integration of Hanley Wood and Virgo Acquisitions
Brings enhanced presence in US events market
London, 2016: Informa’s Global Exhibitions division has completed the successful integration of Hanley Wood Exhibitions and Virgo. The acquisitions, which closed in December and August 2014, respectively, were an important step in expanding its market footprint in the United States.
Charlie McCurdy, CEO of Informa Exhibitions, said: “While the global exhibitions market as a whole is both large and growing, it is also highly fragmented and undergoing intense change – including consolidation, digital engagement and new markets – as it strives to meet the needs of its global customers. The ability to leverage that change through acquisitions as well as market entry and embrace of digital technologies will dictate which global exhibitions players prosper in the next five years, and which do not.”
The acquisition of Hanley Woods Exhibitions added trade shows and events across the real estate, design and construction communities, including World of Concrete, The International Surface Event and the recently purchased Greenbuild Conference & Expo, to its US portfolio.
Virgo produces trade shows and conferences, publishes national trade websites of which some have affiliate magazines, operates online training and accreditation programs, and branded online stores that offer paid content. Virgo’s portfolio also includes SupplySide West, the leading US exhibition in the Health & Nutrition industry, which is highly complementary with Vitafoods, Informa’s leading exhibition brand operating within the same market sector throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia.
